Social distancing is one of the most effective weapons in the fight to slow the spread of COVID-19. When you’re in public, maintaining a distance of at least six feet between yourself and others helps to keep everyone safe and healthy. Dental offices are starting to open back up and they recognize just how important it is to be able to keep your distance from others. Because of this, your dentist in Colorado Springs is implementing new protocols to the flow of the office to ensure that all patients keep an appropriate distance from one another.

Changing How You Wait

During a typical dental appointment, the waiting area is where you are most likely to come into contact with other patients. Fortunately, during the pandemic, dental teams have taken this into account. Many dental practices have systems in place that enable you to check-in and wait directly from your car. If you’d prefer to sit in the waiting area, you’ll find that most chairs have been removed and that all remaining chairs have been spaced at least six feet apart. Magazines and books are also temporarily gone to keep the virus from being spread through shared touch.

Revamping Office Flow

Dental offices tend to be very busy places. It’s common for team members and patients to shuttle back and forth from area to area. To avoid paths crossing unnecessarily, practices are implementing one-way flows throughout the office to keep everything running smoothly while maintaining social distance. Some are also using markers every six feet to give everyone a visual aid to reference.

Updated Appointment Scheduling

Practices have begun to stagger their appointments to limit the number of people in the office at any given time. In addition to these updated scheduling standards, appointments are now longer to maximize the amount of dentistry that can be accomplished in a single visit, helping you to avoid having to make several appointments. Many practices are also able to schedule appointments for family members at the same time to prevent you from having to make several trips to the office.

Your safety and health are your dentist’s top priorities. These new social distancing measures are just a small part of the comprehensive safety protocols that dental offices are putting into place. You can rest assured that your dentist in Colorado Springs is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to protecting their patients.
