Top 5 Myths About Dental Implants

Dental implant surgery dates back 50 years!

Here are some of the most popular myths about dental implants.

Myth #1: Dental Implant Surgery is Very Painful

Installation of dental implant into your bone tissue goes under local anesthesia. One injection is sufficient for the person to feel nothing. At the request of the patient general anesthesia can be done.

Myth #2: Dental Implant Surgery Takes A Very Long Time

Dental implant surgery does not take long – no more than 20-30 minutes.

Dr. Caruth has invested in the advanced technology of coDiagnostiX® CT scans and 3D software. With the coDiagnostiX system, Dr. Gasper can plan a computer-guided implant process that is more precise than ever. The resulting implant placement procedure is highly accurate and minimally invasive, which is an immense benefit for our patients’ overall oral health in the short-term and for many years to come.

Myth #3: Dental Implants Are Too Expensive

Dental implants are an ultra-secure tooth replacement solution that Dr. Gasper offers in our Colorado Springs practice. If you are missing teeth, dental implants will restore lost oral function and aesthetics, and with proper care, they can last a lifetime.  We provide financial options for all of our cosmetic services, including Care Credit. Myth #4: Dental Implants Rejection

The primary limiting factor inherent in dental implant therapy is the amount of bone available to receive and support the dental implant. If it’s determined that a client does not have enough bone to support an implant restoration, bone grafting procedures may be considered.  Heavy smoking and some medical conditions may preclude the use of dental implant therapy.

Myth #5: Dental Implants Are Not Better Than Usual Dentures

The problem, over time, is that the lower denture, riding on a lower bone, where there is no tooth support, begins to shrink and becomes problematic.

If you are tired of the misery associated with lower dentures, we encourage you to consider dental implants, the ultra-secure tooth replacement solution.
