In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month (February) we asked our hygienist:
At what age should parents bring their child to the dentist for their first visit? And what are your tips for preparing your child for their first dental visit?
Christine: Children should have their 1st visit when they are emotionally ready but no later than 3 years of age. Parents should look at the teeth regularly and have the child looked at if any dark spots or suspicious areas are noted. Prepare your child for the dentist by only saying positive things about a dentist. Speak with excitement. Read books about dental visits and have them watch you or a sibling at the dentist.
