We Welcome Dental Insurance

Many of our patients have invested in dental insurance as a way to make their dental care much more affordable, and at Aesthetic Dentistry by Design, we’re ready to help them get the most out of their plan at every single appointment. We know that the specifics of how dental insurance works and the best ways to use it can be a mystery to some, so on this page, we hope to answer some of your basic questions so it’s even easier for you to save on your care with us.

Understanding How Dental Insurance Works

Medical and dental insurance have some key similarities, in that in exchange for a monthly premium, you gain access to a variety of benefits in which you’ll pay less for healthcare services. However, they do differ in their overall approach.

Medical insurance’s coverage is designed to help people with sudden serious problems like a heart attack or stroke. Dental insurance, however, is more focused on covering preventive services so that big problems that require more extensive care don’t develop in the first place.

What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers

Every dental insurance plan is a little different, but generally, coverage tends to break down like this:

This is why we tell all of our patients that the best way to use their plan is to simply attend their two recommended checkups and cleanings each year. They’ll be mostly or completely covered by their insurance, plus they’ll help drastically lower the chances that someone will develop cavities or gum disease, saving them from needing more involved (and expensive) procedures over time.

We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers

Our dental office is an in-network provider with numerous insurance plans, which means that we have a contract to charge reduced fees for everyone covered by a particular plan, and then the provider will cover part of that discounted rate. So, when you go in-network, you actually save money two different ways!

We also accept all out-of-network plans, and unlike with medical insurance, you can still get quite a bit of coverage by visiting a dentist who is out-of-network.
