Many people have teeth that are decayed or damaged, and while these problems might seem small at first, they will likely get worse as time goes by. The teeth can’t naturally heal themselves, but at Aesthetic Dentistry by Design, we can lend a helping hand. Using custom-designed restorations made of the finest materials, we can make even the most compromised tooth look and function like new again, often in just one or two easy appointments.
When a tooth has a cavity that is too large to be repaired with a filling or has developed a sizeable crack or chip, a dental crown is just what the doctor ordered. Made of strong and natural-looking dental porcelain, these restorations fit directly over damaged teeth to protect them as well as bring back their original appearance and function. Every crown Dr. Gasper provides is 100% custom-made, and you can get one in just one appointment thanks to CEREC (more on this below).
Inlays and onlays are sometimes called “partial crowns” because they only cover a portion of a tooth’s surface. This makes them a more conservative approach than a full crown, and they enable Dr. Gasper to preserve more of a tooth while repairing it, making it stronger overall. Inlays can reinforce the interior of a tooth similar to a filling, while onlays can do this and also restore the cusps, or chewing surfaces. Typically, they are made of white porcelain.
Traditional fillings are made of a metallic material called amalgam, and this is why they have such a dark gray color that makes them instantly stick out in any smile. To help us repair our patients’ teeth without changing their appearance, we only use tooth-colored fillings, which are made out of a composite resin. It comes in several natural shades, meaning we can blend it into a patient’s smile and make the restoration practically invisible.
Getting a dental crown used to involve attending at least two appointments at your dentist’s office and spending a week with an unreliable dental crown in between. This simply isn’t good enough for our patients, which is why we have invested in CEREC technology. Thanks to its software as well as our in-house milling machine, we can create and place a completely custom-made crown in just one easy visit, helping patients get what they need and back to their lives as quickly as possible.
Your jaw, head, and neck are actually one big interconnected system of muscles, ligaments, and nerves, and because of this, a problem in one part can easily lead to issues in another. Patients experiencing frequent headaches, for example, are surprised to find out that they can often be caused by an out-of-balance jaw joint. If you’re experiencing any kind of chronic pain above and including your shoulders that other doctors haven’t been able to solve, Dr. Gasper can provide the answers and the relief you need using neuromuscular dentistry.
